Longboarding has a few different styles: Cruising + Carving, Downhill, Freeride and Freestyle. Each pursuit favors a different style longboard. The most common board shape is Directional and designed for going forward, with Pin tail being the most popular design for cruising and downhill. Symmetrical boards or twins are designed for freeride and freestyle since they perform the same way going both directions.
