Below is a complete list of all the gear you may need for a proper camping trip. However, there are five pieces of “gear” you must bring that often get overlooked.

Top 5 Non-Traditional Camping Essentials

  1. Baby Wipes. Yes, baby wipes and believe me you will need them.  Think of it as your daily shower. Dusty bike legs, greasy cookware, hiking boot feet….

  1. Headlamp. When the sun goes down and beers start flowing, you’ll figure it out why this is so important.

  1. Your home pillow.  Getting a full nights rest before the next adventure is key and your pillow is the cornerstone to that.  Sleeping on a mat in a tent is not always easy, but your pillow will give you the comfort and regularity of home.

  1. A simple lighter is often forgotten or overlooked.  Without it, you have no campfire and what is camping without a campfire.  In colder temps, if things go south, the lighter is key to getting you out of trouble.

  1. Duck tape. I can’t tell you how many times duck tape saved an adventure. From backpack strap repairs, sleeping pad patches and tent wall fixes……if you can’t duck it, well you know how it goes. Wrap it few times around a pole or pen so you don’t have to take the entire roll.
