Seller's GuideListing Gear
There are no fees to list gear at GearTrade. However, once an item has sold you are required to ship the item, and any unshipped items will negatively affect your seller rating. Occasionally you may want to list gear under a brand name that doesn't show up in the system. If you cannot find the brand that corresponds to your item, click on Add a Brand to request the brand you need. We ask for turnaround time of about one business day if you add a brand. Don't forget to tell us what types of gear are manufactured under that brand name.
To begin listing gear, follow these steps:
- Click on Sell Gear.
- Select the appropriate category for the item.
- Check the appropriate attributes for the item. Don't forget to include all information necessary for someone to make a purchase decision.
- If you have two or more similar items that are different in size or color, make sure you list them separately, so buyers can select the one they prefer.
- Use the gear condition rating table (as seen below) to rate the condition of your gear.
New   Never used. Gear is closeout gear or was purchased and has not been used. Excellent   Gear should be like new with very minor, if any, signs of use. Most likely used a handful of times. Good   Gear still in good shape. Some wear and tear, but not extremely noticeable. Most likely used for at most a season or two with light use. Fair   Gear still usable and in OK shape, but shows noticeable wear and tear. Most likely has seen several seasons with heavy use. - Specify a price for the item. Remember that GearTrade will take a 12% commission on all sales, and shipping charges are factored into the list price of an item. If you are selling multiple items as a package, such as skis, poles, and boots, make sure the price reflects the entire package.
- If you are willing to haggle on the price of the item, check the Haggle box. If not, leave the box unchecked.
- Item Images must be either JPEG or GIF formats. They should be saved as 72 DPI and be no larger than 440px by 440px. Extremely large images may be resized to the maximum width and height. Tip: Shoot your item on top of a white background to focus the eye on the product.
- Verify that the information you have listed for the item is correct. If the item is purchased and is different than the item's description, the buyer is not obligated to keep the purchase and it may be returned to you along with the shipping costs. Inspect the item thoroughly for any wear, defects, stains, rips or noticeable markings and detail these in your description. By doing so, you can avoid any possibility of return.
